Natasha, Tash, Tashi, Tasshhhhh, call me what you wish. I’m a crazy urban hippy trying to save this beautiful blue-green earth one bamboo straw and salad bowl at a time. I grew up in the back of my dad's pizzeria (Bacini's on Kloof) and surrounded by the love of food. I love my dad and remember bringing drinks to cusomers as early as 4 or 5 years old! Still, I worried that taking over Bacini's would not be fulfilling. I wanted to discover more, so I left South Africa to work on yachts and travel the world. After four years, I realized I don't want to be a billionaire and live a soulless life. I reached my breaking point when the owner of the boat didn't like the colour of 50 beautiful, fresh orchids and made me cut and throw them out. I ran away to an eco-village in Costa Rica to take 260hr yoga teaching training and live on a permaculture farm. I later returned to Cape Town in the hopes of making a real difference and finding my purpose in the world. I started managing my dad’s restaurant while taking a GetSmarter business course, but I felt like I needed more.
One day while I was searching for something in my dad’s storage garage, an idea began unfurling in my mind: what if I could turn this garage into a tiny cafe that embodied all of the principles I had learnt in Costa Rica? During my time abroad, I realised the key to happiness is living a more wholesome life connected to nature and your body. I dreamed of building a business to raise awareness of these principles. Although it seemed crazy at the time, I decided to turn his garage into a bite-sized juice bar! Nourish'd is about providing healthy, plant-based food in a sustainable, zero-waste way. Over the past few years, my little plant-child has grown into the most delicious fruit tree in the whole damn world. Nourish'd bears blossoms of plant-based abundance with two branches and many more leaves. Through my waste-aware, vegan/vegetarian café’s and social media platforms, I’m on a mission to raise awareness about the ecological crisis facing this planet and what we can do to create change.
As time crazily flies by, I find myself balancing life as an entrepreneur and a mother. My daughter Marion Mae brings so much joy, laughter, and love into my life. She teaches me what it means to truly love and be loved. Every morning my partner and I wake up to giggles, laughs, and bright smiles that light up the world. Marion Mae is so cute that it's hard to work while she begs for attention, food, and play. Motherhood is not easy, but its the best dang thing in the whole world. To all the mothers out there, I see you. You are love. You deserve the best. That is why I made sure our shop is a safe space for mothers to breastfeed and be with their baby. My little Marion May is my biggest inspiration and life force. I grow Nourish'd because of her. Its important that my family eats delicious, healthy food. Nourish'd is a part of that family, and I am thankful this little tree allows me to feed my daughter good food and teach her good values. Thank you, our customers, for joining our family and supporting us so we can continue to provide healthy, nourishing food for body and soul.
